A rare pre-winter storm dumped snow and rain on much of southern California and Nevada, shutting down major highways, grounding flights and even coating the Las Vegas Strip on Thursday.
A South Carolina Roman Catholic priest has told his parishioners that they should refrain from receiving Holy Communion if they voted for Barack Obama because the Democratic president-elect supports abortion.
Sarah Palin unlawfully abused her power as governor by trying to have her former brother-in-law fired as a state trooper, the chief investigator of an Alaska legislative panel concluded Friday.
Chuck, Chuck Chuck,
Your long winded comments is just your slanted opinion. The fact is, golf courses, in general, produce insignificant revenue for ALMOST (not all) every city in America. There are much, much bigger issues than the economic hit the golf world will endure. Though I do feel for those who are involved in this industry financially, just not the participant. He'll be fine.
I am still not sure what you're trying to say regarding the fact that parks and sport fields do not bring in any revenue. Sorry to say, but in this case, that has to be besides the point. THIS IS THE PLAYGROUND OF OUR YOUTHS. Do you understand that significance? When we close down a park before a golf course, we all lose.
Now, comparing golf, an individual sport, to the 4 major sports, team sports, is reallly ridiculous. It almost made me forget all of your redundant revenue facts. This is just plain stupid. Maybe you should back off this real, real fast.
So,let me get this straight, Dwayne Wade of the Miami Heat basketball team should have been paid zero. After all, they had the worst record in basketball. Dan Marino? Not worth much, he never won a championship. I could go on, but I think you see the point.
As for pro skiing, I have a friend who is one. So I CAN comment on this.
Onto golf's endorsement deals. You'd be surprised the amount of golfers who have one. There are hundreds out there, obviously some way more than others. You see, these equipment and clothing companies only want to have their product seen. Therefore, even the moderately successful player will get one. For those scratching out a living out fresh from Q school or on the Futures Tour. Even they have sponsers, it may even be a rich relative. So don't make it seem that these pro golfers are out there by all by themselves.
The point I was trying to make is: It's hard for the average American to get too excited about the economic hit the golf world is going to absorb, though that isn't neccessarily fair. But we are much more concerned about our homes, our banks, our insurance, food, gasoline, energy, etc.
After all, are we all going to boo-hoo if baseball's economy gets hit? To some, yes. to most, no.
By the way, I'm a golfer.
